DOCTOR AND STAFF TRAINING AFTERNOON – THURSDAY 22ND APRIL 2010
In common with most of the other surgeries in the Teignbridge area, the Surgery will close at 12.30 p.m. on Thursday 22nd April 2010 to allow time for Doctor and Staff training.
The Surgery will re-open at 8.30 a.m. on Friday 23rd April.
When Albany Surgery is closed you still have other sources for NHS help:-
1) If you have a severe injury or have had a serious accident, call 999 for an ambulance or get someone to take you straight to the Accident & Emergency unit at Torbay Hospital
2) If you are unsure and need advice on what to do, talk to the nurse team at NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
3) For help from a local GP, telephone Devon Doctors on 0845 6710 270.
For any routine matter, please contact the surgery after we re-open on Friday morning at 08.30.
AUTOMATED ARRIVALS SYSTEM
We have installed an automated arrivals screen to try to reduce waiting time at the Reception desk. We encourage you to use this when checking in for an appointment to avoid queuing. Please note that when indicating your date/day of birth that this is one entry of the appropriate number (1 - 31). Use of this system is optional; you can still personally check in at Reception but you can save time by using the automated system.
SWINE FLU IMMUNISATION PROGRAMME
The Chief Medical Officer has defined the priority risk groups and you should be immunised if you are 6 months of age or above and:
- have a long term health condition such as chronic lung, heart, kidney, liver or neurological disease, or diabetes mellitus (i.e. those in the seasonal flu clinical risk groups)
- are pregnant
- your immune system is compromised because of a disease or treatment for a disease
- you live in the same house as someone whose immune system is compromised
If you have not already been immunised or made an appointment, we encourage you to do so without delay if you are in one of the above risk groups.
Patients aged 6 months to 5 years old who are not in a clinical risk group are included in the second phase of the immunisation programme and we are also able to offer immunisation to this group of patients. Please telephone the surgery after 10.00 a.m. Monday to Friday to arrange an appointment.
PARTNERSHIP CHANGES
Dr Sue Smout became a partner and Dr. Jocelyn Glenton joined the practice as a partner with effect from 1st July 2009. Both work part time. Dr. Richard Wade also now works part time.
Patients can continue to book appointments with their own choice of doctor, subject to appointment availability. However, we encourage patients to book routine appointments with their usual doctor where possible, but we cannot guarantee that your usual doctor will always be available.
