HOW DO I...
OBTAIN
APPOINTMENTS, TELEPHONE ADVICE
AND HOME VISITS?
The reception staff will be able to tell you the times of surgeries and try to find an appointment that suits you. If you have a problem requiring urgent attention we will offer you an appointment on the same day. We offer a range of booked appointment times every morning and afternoon between 8.35am and 5.00pm.
The doctor or nurse may be able to help you by giving advice on the telephone. If you would like telephone advice please ring the surgery as early as possible. You will be asked to leave a contact number. Please remember that mobile phone numbers are sometimes unobtainable, and that we will not normally leave messages on answerphones.
The doctor or community nurse may visit you at home if you are housebound or too ill to come to the surgery. If you wish to request a visit it will help us if you ring the surgery before 10.00am.
The surgery is open from 8.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday - except Bank and Public holidays.
For appointments and all other enquiries please telephone 01626 334411. Please follow the instructions in the message that you will hear, so that your call can be directed to the appropriate person. (If you have an older style telephone please wait and your call will be answered by a receptionist.)
When the surgery is closed and you need urgent medical attention, please ring Devon Doctors on 08456 710270. When you telephone Devon Doctors, they will ask you for:
• The patient's name
• The patient's date of birth
• The contact telephone number
• The name of the patient's GP and Practice
• Details of the healthcare problem
All telephone calls to Devon Doctors are recorded.
Advice is also available 24 hours a day by telephoning the NHS Direct helpline (0845 4647) or from NHS Direct online (www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk).
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
If you have had a test arranged by one of the doctors or nurses you will need to contact the surgery to find out the result. The doctor or nurse may have asked you to make an appointment to obtain the result. Otherwise please telephone the surgery between 10.00am and 5.00pm and a receptionist will be able to tell you what the doctor has advised about the result.
HOW DO I...
REGISTER WITH THE PRACTICE?
To register with the practice you simply need to complete the registration forms which are available from reception. (If you wish to change from another local surgery then we ask you to come to discuss this with a doctor first.). We invite and encourage all new patients to see the healthcare assistant for a New Patient Medical. If you wish to express a preference about who will be your usual doctor, please let the receptionist know. We encourage patients to book routine appointments with their usual doctor where possible, but we cannot guarantee that your usual doctor will always be available.
